The Concept Art section of my portfolio has been completely revamped. I’ve added my complete portfolio as it stands at the moment– more to come very soon! It currently includes some character designs, environmental designs, digital paintings, and animation layouts. Please click on the image below to view the gallery!

Website Revamp! JoieArt.net’s New Design
by Joie on Jul.29, 2011, under Articles, News
Well, I have made major changes to the website in the last week. After getting some great feedback, I decided to seriously clean up around here. Things are not 100% finished, and I’ve still got quite a lot of tinkering to do with the code, but the basic idea is here.
What’s new:
A clean, new streamlined design with less distractions. Entirely new color scheme. Brand new “logo” for re-branding on all my business cards and promotional materials. Landing page is no longer the blog, but my portfolio selection page. Three portfolios instead of one. Major culling of portfolios to present only my best work!
What still needs to be fixed:
Color tweaking on things, especially in the comments. Adding the rest of the new pieces to my portfolio. Small layout bugs here and there. Re-categorization of old pieces of artwork so visitors can find additional artwork here on my blog.
I’m really happy with the new layout so far. I feel it looks a lot more professional and is more effective than my last layout. If you notice anything not working, please leave a comment and let me know!
Back in the Swing

The new semester has begun, and I’m getting warmed up and used to the heavy workload once again. Here are a few images of things I’ve done so far (some NSFW nude figures under the cut):
>> A portrait done in Head Drawing class.
>> A portrait done entirely from my imagination. Not TOO terrible, eh?
Graduate School

I’m excited to announce that I’ve been accepted into a Master’s Program of Illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California! I intend to finish their MFA program and hopefully complete some internships to help me further my career. It is an exciting thing to finally break free of the world of The Dayjob and have a fresh start on something new. I just completed my second day of classes, and am excited to be back in the world of academia.
This of course also gives me a bit more free time to work on artwork, which is great because I’ve got a new commission, and a possible chance at illustrating some children’s books.
I’m also in the midst of printing new business cards, and some bookmarks of my art to have a new offering in my Etsy.com store. I also think it may be time for a nice facelift for Joieart.net. New era, new design! I hope to have some new artwork very soon!
