As many of you know, I’ve been working on a comic book with my friends Josh and Matt over at Arguing Idiots called Vinny.

Last month I posted some of the concept art for the comic, and then in a later post you could kind of see some of the pages in progress lying on the table.

Some of the pages have actually been scanned at this point, so I thought I’d share some teaser images to start whetting your appetite for Vinny!

This project has been difficult because it’s my first ever large (non-academic) project with a deadline, as well as being my very first comic book. So far, progress-wise I’ve finished 4 of 22 pages, and having been working on page 5 today during my long day in the studio. I will post some full teaser pages sometime in the future, so be on the lookout!

I was given permission by the writers of the comic book that I am currently penciling (and of which I am co-creator) to post some concept art. The copyright information is watermarked on the images because the book has not yet been put into print.

The name of the book is Vinny and is intended to be an ongoing series that chronicles the hilarious misadventures of one unlucky Vampire and his accidental companion. It is very cartoony in format, and will be published as a black and white book. I will be posting a few teaser pages very soon.

Welcome to my blog. I thought I’d start it with a bang, and get right to some artwork. My name is Joie. I’m an Illustrator based in the Atlanta area. I unfortunately have a non-art related day job, but am working hard to find my way into the art business. That’s that– glad to meet ya.

Empyrean Eyes is a piece that I finished some time ago, based on a photo of my costume-designer and model friend Yaya Han. It’s a great example of my process, as well as the mediums with which I am most comfortable.
