Website Revamp! JoieArt.net’s New Design

Well, I have made major changes to the website in the last week. After getting some great feedback, I decided to seriously clean up around here. Things are not 100% finished, and I’ve still got quite a lot of tinkering to do with the code, but the basic idea is here.

What’s new:

  • A clean, new streamlined design with less distractions.
  • Entirely new color scheme.
  • Brand new “logo” for re-branding on all my business cards and promotional materials.
  • Landing page is no longer the blog, but my portfolio selection page.
  • Three portfolios instead of one.
  • Major culling of portfolios to present only my best work!

    • What still needs to be fixed:

  • Color tweaking on things, especially in the comments.
  • Adding the rest of the new pieces to my portfolio.
  • Small layout bugs here and there.
  • Re-categorization of old pieces of artwork so visitors can find additional artwork here on my blog.

    • I’m really happy with the new layout so far. I feel it looks a lot more professional and is more effective than my last layout. If you notice anything not working, please leave a comment and let me know!

      Like I said on FB and G+, I think your redesign really works for the children’s book market! And I love the corgi besplattered with paint!

      The only slight thing I’ve noticed for improvement is that the text for “Older Entries” at the bottom of the blog page is grey against a white background button and it’s hard to read. If the background on that button could be grey like the other buttons that’d fix it.

      Other than that, I think everything looks great and can’t wait to see your new portfolio pieces!

      I like it! Although I always picture pink or powder blue in relation to you, rather than purple =) Andy keeps talking about hiring you to do an illustration of his WoW toon…

      You forgot to mention that you’ve got a ghost living in the website now. He’s even showing up on a page this long. Not just the home page anymore! — That aside, I do like the new site. Your new header for the website amuses me. :) < (because the Ghost needs a friend around here)

      Haha thanks everyone! Alex, that’s one of the color tweaks I need to work on, as well as this comments box! It just looks strange and purple and black like this! :)

      Stephanie, I do love pink and powder blue, but purple really is my favorite color in the long run. :) I’d love to do Andy’s toon, but it would need to wait a few months for sure– I’m soooooo overwhelmed right now. :’O

      Michael– that ghost is dumb and arrrrg! At least I found the code that makes him. Kinda.
